Creating A Beautiful Bonnet
1830s Romantic Era Bonnet or 1850-1860s mid-Victorian Bonnet
A Millinery workshop for those looking to learn the basics of buckram hat making. This method starts with a flat bonnet pattern (provided in class). You'll construct a wired, buckram bonnet frame, learn how to cover it with fashion fabric, and line it. The pattern choices for this class will be: 1830's romantic era bonnet or a mid- Victorian bonnet 1850-60's. (Both bonnets are of the Dickens era, perfect for wearing to the Dickens Fair) The objective of this class is for the attendees to learn the buckram millinery technique, so they can continue to make hats on their own, from any flat hat pattern. Trimming discussed if time allows. Instructor for this class will be Lynne Taylor-Seavers, an accomplished milliner with a love of teaching others this beautiful art.
Cost for this workshop is $[check current market price]. The price includes pattern, foundation materials and wire for one bonnet frame, attendees will be sent a supply list before the class. Students need to have good hand sewing skills and need to bring a portable zigzag sewing machine to class. Class size is limited.
